    Rauhia peruviana

    This Peruvian native is a favorite for its tongue-shaped, fleshy leaves that seem to spring right out of the sandy ground. Beneath the surface is a bulbous caudex, a moisture retaining root that helps this plant sustain itself through long periods of drought in high deserts. Hardy and resourceful, this plant will root itself if you just drop it on the ground, but we recommend giving it a little more love than that. Come spring, watch a tall inflorescence grow and release a cluster of blue-green flowers with white stripes.

    Sedum multiceps

    Pygmy Joshua Tree is a branching stonecrop that forms stunning trunk-like stalks and bushy leaf clusters. Native to Algeria, it makes its home on rocky limestone cliffs and outcroppings. A fall and winter grower, Sedum multiceps rarely grows taller than six inches, but it will spread rapidly if given optimal conditions.

In its native subtropical environment, this unique plant often grows clustered alongside low-lying palms and other underbrush.

    Hoya pachyclada is a vining epiphyte native to Thailand. Beloved by collectors for its ovoid leaves that come to a soft point, this slow-grower will produce doming clusters of white, star-shaped flowers that look like a bridal veil.

    Hoya pubicalyx 'Black Dragon'

    Hoya pubicalyx 'Black Dragon' is a nursery cultivar of Hoya pubicalyx, a vining epiphyte native to the Philippines. Its thick, waxy leaves love dappled and indirect light. This variety is prized by collectors for the coloration of its flowers, which are black and crimson-purple and blossom, as all Hoya flowers do, in a seamless, arcing dome.
