The Ficus Elastica aka rubber plant can grow up to 100 feet tall. Not to worry, as an indoor plant it usually caps off at around 8 feet. The Ficus is loved for its attractive, ovular foliage, which sets a unique tone with its moody maroon-green color. Remarkably adaptable and easy to care for, Ficus Elastica makes an excellent large statement plant that doesn’t demand a plant pro’s attention to stay alive
Ficus Elastica prefers plenty of bright, indirect light or dappled sun. Too much direct sunlight will burn the leaves, but low-light conditions could lead to leaf drop. An ideal spot is right in front of an east-facing window or a few feet back from a south or west-facing window. Water your rubber plant when the soil starts to dry out. Feel the soil down to about two inches and if it feels like a wrung-out sponge, it’s safe to water. If leaves high up on the plant start to drop, dial back on watering. Water less often during the winter, as the soil will dry out slower.

The Zamioculcas zamiifolia is known for its attractive, dark green shiny leaves. One of the easiest plants to grow indoors, it tolerates neglect, drought, and accepts low-light conditions. ZZ plants are very efficient at removing indoor pollutants such as benzene, xylene and toluene.
ZZ plants do best in medium bright indirect light. Though these plants prefer moderate light, they are adaptable to low light conditions or under fluorescent lights, such as those in office buildings. Allow the soil to completely dry between watering. Don’t let your plant sit in water because it can easily cause stem and rhizome rot. It's best to water the ZZ plant less because over-watering can quickly cause root out. Cut back on water during the Fall and winter months.
If you are ever unsure if you should water, don't. ZZ plant can always come back from being a little under-watered.

Orchid bark is essential for preventing root rot in orchids and other moisture-sensitive plants. It promotes optimal aeration, helping orchid roots access oxygen while retaining just enough moisture. This feature is advantageous for plants that prefer a slightly humid environment. The bark absorbs and releases water gradually, preventing overwatering.

Traditional Japanese set folding pocket knife made by Kanekoma with a hand forged 3" folded SK steel blade.
The black nickel handle starts off shiny but soon mellows to a lovely rich patina. Quite a stiff action that loosens with time, and can be retightened with a sharp rap on the rivet with a hammer. Our advice for longevity - keep your tool clean and sharp with Niwaki camelia oil and sharpening stone.
Size: 171 x 5 x 18mm, 109mm folded length, 70mm blades.

Standard issue in Japan, where these are considered the every day, go-to choice for pruning. The big chunky catch at the bottom has a crisp action that’s easy to use, even with cold wet hands or muddy gloves, and the spring is well secured and never accidentally pops out. As with all Japanese secateurs, these have a simple direct action, resulting in a very clean, efficient cut.
Yellow grips stand out the garden, and are great for when they end up in the compost heap. Suitable for cuts of 10 -15mm, depending on plant type. Our advice for longevity - keep your tool clean and sharp with Niwaki camelia oil and sharpening stone.

Worm castings, often colloquially referred to as "black gold" in the realm of horticulture, are a valuable resource in gardening and agriculture. These castings are a type of organic fertilizer and soil conditioner that are produced by earthworms through the decomposition of organic matter.
What makes worm castings highly prized is their exceptional nutrient content. They are rich in essential elements like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and micronutrients. Additionally, the castings contain beneficial microorganisms that contribute to the improvement of soil structure and fertility. This combination of nutrients and microorganisms makes worm castings an excellent natural fertilizer.

Virtual Interior Plant Services From Tula House
Tula’s At Home Plant Care is a 30-minute video consultation service for indoor plant owners who need clear care advice from a real plant expert. For $75, Tula House will review your plants, your space, and the problems you’re seeing on camera.
This service is available nationwide, so you don’t need to live near the Greenpoint shop to get thoughtful plant guidance. If you’re looking for interior plant services that fit into a busy schedule, this call gives you practical next steps without scheduling a home visit.
What Your Consultation Covers
During your video consultation, Tula House will learn about your plant goals, review your current setup, diagnose plant issues, and recommend care changes. You can show leaves, soil, light conditions, pot size, drainage, or pest concerns while talking through what has changed in your space.
You don’t need to know the exact plant name before your call. Tula House can help identify what you’re caring for and explain how its current environment may be affecting its growth.
Tula’s interior plant services can support common indoor plant questions, including:
Repotting timing and pot size
Plant placement and light conditions
Yellowing leaves, browning tips, or stalled growth
Pest concerns and early troubleshooting
Watering routines for one plant or a small collection
Better setup choices before buying a new plant
Indoor Plant Care Services Without a Home Visit
Small changes can throw off a plant’s routine. A vent turns on, a room gets less light, soil stays wet for too long, or summer growth slows as the season shifts. Tula House’s indoor plant care services help you notice those details before they turn into bigger care problems.
If you want interior plant services for a darker room, sunny window, narrow shelf, or customer-facing business space, we can help you think through plant choices before you buy.
For customers who already work with a plant maintenance routine, the call can help refine care habits and spot gaps. For newer plant owners, we can settle your worries with a plan.
How Scheduling Works
To book, click “Schedule a Video Consultation,” choose a time, and prepare your questions before the appointment. Keep the plants nearby during the call when possible.
Good photos can also help, especially for pests, leaf damage, soil concerns, or hard-to-see growth points. Tula House’s indoor plant care services are meant to be specific to your interior, so the more your team can see, the better the guidance will be.

Fockea edulis is an unusual plant native to South Africa and Namibia, where the dry savannah and rocky slopes house its huge, water retaining caudex. This fat, twisted root is often lifted above the soil by collectors to give this plant the impression that it’s actually a miniature, wide-trunked tree. Semi-deciduous, this plant sheds leaves in the winter and relies on stored water for a semi-dormant period. Then, come late summer, it bursts forth with green-copper flowers.
The term "caudex" refers to the enlarged, swollen, and often woody base of the plant that stores water and nutrients. This caudex is a common characteristic of many succulent and semi-succulent plants, including various species within the genus Fockea.
Fockea edulis does best in filtered sun, 4 to 5 hours a day. Avoid intense afternoon sun by sheltering this plant beneath the limbs of a larger plant or placing it in the shadow of a sheer curtain. Grow outdoors in light shade or indoors in a sunny window with southern exposure.
Native to arid and sub-tropical climates, Fockea edulis are drought tolerant plants. Water when the soil dries out in the summer and only infrequently during the winter. Their soil should be allowed to dry out entirely before watering thoroughly.
Fantastic sharpening stones specially designed for Secateurs, but also great for Shears, Topiary Clippers and any other sharp blades. The concave edge follows the curve of the blade perfectly, and they're small enough to get into tight spots.
Size: 3" x 1" x .5"
Material: Brown #1000 grit: fine, for regular sharpening.
Euphorbia obesa is a rare and sought-after euphorbia species that will grow well indoors. As it matures, the ball-like shape will stretch to oblong and harden along the ridge lines. Mature obesa are coveted for their unique appearance and markings. Though fairly common in cultivation, unsustainable harvesting has pushed this species to near extinction. As a result, legislation has been enacted to protect the remaining population. Nursery and botanic gardens have been growing this species en masse to mitigate the amount of harvesting of this plant in the wild and further protect native plants. We only source plants from growers who have collected seeds legally and adhere to CITES regulations.
Euphorbia stellata is a small geophytic species, both a caudiciform and medusoid Euphorbia. The caudex is frequently elevated in cultivation. Flowers bloom on the edges of the Euphorbia branches. Blooms are small, waxy and yellow in color.
Euphorbia stellata plants grow best in full sun. Avoid intense afternoon sun. Euphorbia stellata are drought tolerant plants. Their soil should be allowed to dry out entirely before watering thoroughly. If the caudex starts to shrivel, Euphorbia stellata is thirsty and should be watered.
Branch cuttings can be propagated and will form a caudex over time. Fertilize to stimulate growth and healthy roots during the grow season.

Native to the warm, humid rainforests of South America, the Philodendron selloum 'Hope' is a lush, deeply lobed wonder that brings sculptural elegance into any space. This self-heading variety doesn't vine — instead, it grows outward in a dramatic, fountain-like form, each leaf unfurling like a green exhale. In the wild, it grows beneath the jungle canopy, reaching toward dappled light with patient, quiet strength.
The 'Hope' likes bright, indirect light is ideal. She’ll tolerate lower light but may grow more slowly and with smaller leaves. Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering is her kryptonite — let her roots breathe. Rotate your selloum every couple of weeks to encourage even growth and prevent her from leaning toward the light.
Pet Warning: Toxic if ingested — best kept out of reach from curious pets and little ones.

A rare and unique cactus, the Tephrocactus geometricus are small low growing globular segmented cactus that grow branched into small clumps. The stems are blueish green that will redden to purple in full sun exposure. New growth is dark purple. Spines are black. This is a very slow growing cactus, only one globe per year may grow. Tephrocactus geometricus prefer lots of sun, at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sun daily. Water only when the soil has dried out completely. Always err on the side of underwatering. Fertilize starting in spring through summer to promote healthy growth and blooms.
Like many cacti, Tephrocactus geometricus has low water requirements. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between watering sessions. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's essential to err on the side of underwatering.
A Pendant Grow Light for Brighter Indoor Plant Care
A Rousseau grow light gives indoor plants steadier light without turning your space into a plant lab. This all-in-one LED pendant system has a clean hanging shape, an 18-foot cloth-covered cord, and a simple switch for everyday use.
The Rousseau pendant grow light works well for homes, studios, offices, and plant corners that need more consistent light than a window can provide. Choose black or white to match the room, then place it where your plants need support.
Why This Light Works for Houseplants
The Rousseau grow light uses a 35-watt LED bulb with a 4000K sunlight spectrum. That color temperature gives plants a bright, balanced light source while keeping the fixture easy to work into a living space.
Placement depends on the plants below it. Rousseau recommends 48 to 60 inches of distance for low-light and indirect-light plants. For full-sun plants, keep the light closer at 12 to 24 inches above the foliage.
Product Details
The Rousseau grow light measures 3 inches in diameter and 10 inches tall. It is made from metal, glass, wood, plastic, and a cloth-covered cord, and it is assembled in Atlanta.
The pendant format of this plant light keeps the fixture off shelves and stands, which is helpful when floor space is limited. It also lets you light one plant grouping without moving every pot to the brightest window.
How to Position the Light
Start with the included Light Coverage Guide, then adjust the height based on the plants below. A lower setting supports full-sun plants, while placing your Rousseau grow light higher spreads light across plants that prefer lower or indirect exposure.
This is useful in Brooklyn apartments where windows can be blocked by neighboring buildings, street trees, or seasonal light changes. Instead of moving plants from shelf to shelf, you can give one corner a steadier light source.

Where to Use a Rousseau Grow Light
A small grow light is useful for rooms with small windows, shaded exposures, or winter light that drops before your plants get enough time in the sun. It can support a single statement plant or a small group with similar light needs.
Use a pendant plant light above sun-loving arid plants, or hang it higher above tropical plants that prefer bright, indirect exposure. Tula House can help you think through plant placement, lighting, and care.
Pair It With Plant Care Support
Lighting is one part of plant care. Soil, watering rhythm, pest checks, and repotting all affect how well a plant responds once your Rousseau grow light is in place.
Visit Tula House in Greenpoint for plant care tools, rare plants, and in-store services. For homes, offices, restaurants, and retail spaces, Tula Gardens can plan plant design with the right lighting, placement, and long-term care in mind.
